"I stopped flying seven years back, I thought that my Fear of Flying cannot be cured. But, my life has changed for good within the last twelve hours – I am back to flying. A big big thanks to you for taking me back to the mesmerising world of aviation". These were the parting words of our course participant after successfully attending the Fear of Flying program at Cockpit Vista in Bengaluru (India)
"As his family member, our lives have changed too – we are super happy" reads the thankyou note from his wife who was also part of the private course for her husband's fear and anxiety with flying. She decided to document the events and narrate the pleasant experience for the benefit of those who are in a situation similar to her family.
Dear Wing Commander, first of all let me congratulate you for thinking differently in your course of Fear of Flying. Not much thought poured in India till date - in one way you are the torch bearer in India on Fear of Flying courses.
I thank you for the personal training comprising theory, practical and thereafter accompanying me on a real flight. I can say that my first flight after the course was much less anxious and frightening compared to last flight I took in May 2022 when I stopped flying. It has been benificial to me definitely as I am looking forward positively for the next flight and start to rethink of taking long haul flights once again.
As you know I came to you after trying two online and DVD courses - Both were good but the problem with online course is that you don't get the much required hands on exposure in a aircraft and you dont get to go on a flight with a trainer. This is where online courses are trailing behind your course.
A large number of fearful flyers are sitting on the fence - they need your support to fly again
We have seen with shock and disbelief, our daughter-in-law turn from happy flyer to a fearful passenger in a matter of few weeks. Claustrophobia has upset her thoughts on flying. Soon, she stopped flying. I reached out to Cockpit Vista where Wing Commander 's course got her back to fly. She (code CVC957600) has provided a detailed account of how it all started and the experience with the course at Cockpit Vista.
I must mentioned an important takeaways from the talk I had with him - flight anxiety, like any other concerns is best addressed in the early stages of onset and that I was lucky that my daughter-in-law had not lost a day in raising the concern within the family.
I have many life related anxieties, but I was a happy flyer. I may sound weird, but I had a belief that women are not wired to drive, so women pilots are unsafe to fly a plane. Even, that didn't really trouble me.
Then came two or three turbulent flights and that started worrying me. I set wrong expectations that my flights would not encounter turbulence ever, but that is too much to ask for. Now I was worrying about everything including if a women pilot was flying me.
My course with Cockpit Vista taught me all tools to accept aviation facts. I learnt to accept turbulence as an integral part of aviation and overcome the anxiety with the knowledge that it is just a comfort issue.
Thanks to Cockpit Vista, especially to Wing Commander, I am back to flying including international travel with the assurance that aviation is safe.
Firstly, a big thanks to Cockpit Vista for the private course that brought me back to flying. An unexpected event on takeoff on a domestic flight shook my confidence in flights - in no time I stopped air travel. My life almost came to standstill.
Two bold steps helped me bounce back - Without a thought, I booked my next vacation flight to Italy and scheduled the course with Dinesh sir just prior to this International flight.
His extensive course in the amazing simulator followed by two "proving" flights the same day with him in Indigo between Mumbai and Delhi restored my confidence. Today, I fly comfortably all over the world
I have just landed in Addis Ababa after a long flight from Mumbai . This flight after the course with you was completely different. We had turbulence but I was able to handle it easily as a comfort issue rather than a safety issue. I have started enjoying turbulence as if I was in a swing.
Your concept has worked for me. I keep these words of yours as the bottomline - treat the pilot as one amongst us. Think of him as the first on the list of passenger. He will meet the same fate as the other passengers. Therefore he will never risk safety.
I am sending in my detailed experience today
I was consistently anxious in life and developed fear of turbulence. I got specific and made up my mind that certain routes from Mumbai are more dangerous. Unfortunately this included the city where I had set up my school. I had stopped domestic travel one year back. My travel abroad was also looking difficult. I decided to take professional help from Cockpit Vista
I took a session with Wing Commander before my flight to London. The Session was very helpful. I was able to think of all the aviation activities that he had made me practice in the simulator. Those activities kept me super busy. I put on the map and sat on the window. While going there was a bit of turbulence, but things went fine. The return was really good.
I took one more session later to clarify few more doubts and get back to domestic travel too. I have started travelling to the city of my school which I had feared and stopped. I am back to flying everywhere.
Flight anxiety requires regular help. I must mention that Wing Commander's course is unique in that he still mentors me whenever I require help
Memories to cherish forever
We are grateful to our visitors for sharing their experience in our guest book. We appreciate them for writing their spontaneous feelings in our guest book immediately after the session. We are glad that they allowed us to share their testimonial
